To say a centrist of the Democrats would be the "real radical" -- when the party today is run by extreme socialists, radicals, anarchists, Antifa, BLM, anti-Semites.

Benjamin Rozes, also a novella, is of similar style.
Both are light, entertaining, charming, and endearing.

A better version of Camp of Saints, by the same author (Jean Raspail) is Septentrion, published 6 years later (in 1979). It too is a dystopia but more beautifully written and told. The enemy is different.

Of course there is. The constitution and the amendments are written by will of the people, or at least by those who supposedly represent them.
If there are enough votes to allow for it, the constitution can be changed or the amendment modified.
