Sorry for the rant but there's something so valuable about experiencing something for the very first time and many people online aren't capable of tempering their excitement or inside jokes to let others enjoy it for the first time like they got to. I'm learning it's a big pet peeve of mine

It sets up expectations for something and can affect someone's experience.

The safest way to engage with someone experiencing something for the first time is to only speak about things in the PRESENT or using present information to give something from the PAST more context.

So it ends up being a bunch of people who want to talk but don't want to listen, therefore I don't participate and add my thoughts because I know they won't listen anyways. Watching the posts becomes more of a "checking the temperature of the community" situation

Rather than thinking "This is my experience, I'll check to see if anyone else is feeling the same way" it's as if their first thought is "I need to create a new post ASAP so my unique experience is heard" when if they looked first they would see their experience isn't so unique after all
