DAY three of the Attention in Animal Ethics and Aesthetics summer school included another round of field trips, and the last keynote, where we were honoured to have Susan McHugh talking about Dog Walks as Acts of Attentional Deviance. #animalstudies #AttEA

The incredible evening keynote on our second day was delivered by Anat Pick, who talked about Attention and Affliction in Andrea Arnold's Cow, opening up new perspectives on some of the ideas of attention we have been discussing. #AttEA #animalstudies

DAY 2 of Attention in Animal Ethics and Aesthetics (#AttEA) started awesomely, with Jessica Ullrich's keynote on "Aesthetic Practices of Attentiveness: Caring Beyond the Human in Contemporary Art". #animalstudies

As the final part of the first day's academic programme we were treated to a curated film programme by Michał Matuszewski. #AttEA #animalstudies

After a seminar session on ethics and a workshop with student work, we were treated to a seminar session on Trontian Politics for Animals, lead by Maude Oullette-Dubé. #AttEA #animalstudies

And we are away. Starting with Silvia Panizza's keynote on "Attending like a Dog". #AttEA #animalstudies

The first day of our Attention in Animal Ethics and Aesthetics (#AttEA) summer school is about to begin at the beautiful old @UniBasel venue on the banks of the Rhine.

There are no human words (but maybe some animal sounds) for how much I look forward to this!

Tomorrow, at #esse2024 in Lausanne (online, too), I will present my paper with a #vegan literary studies perspective on #cannibalism, as part of the "Food and Eating in Anglophone Literature and Travel Writing" panel.

Will the #englishstudies community be ready for that? Time will tell, I guess.
