That must have been before my time and I'm old. I remember going to the shoe store and telling them which shoe I liked. They would then measure my feet with that metal foot measuring device and go in the back of the store and come out with a couple of different sizes to try on.

2/2 After the war, I think around 1950, she was posted to Japan. She was an English teacher. I think it really helped her. I think she said that was the best experience of her life as she came to love the Japanese people. because of course the people weren't the Imperial Japanese military.

1/2 My Dad's great aunt was a missionary in China in WW2. She spent time in a Japanese death camp while there. Needless to say, she had a lot of horror stories of being there. She was Nazarene and wrote a book about it, but part of it was censored, fearing they couldn't get more missionaries.
