Yes, Scala is not a purely functional language, to be precise. But it has adopted many ideas from functional programming, and (I guess) it is a popular language in the real world, so you can easily find resources. I've never tried Elixir, but it would be nice too.

I think Golang is a good choice to get familiar with struct-based languages. I'd also recommend Scala to get a feel for functional programming.

Welcoming! Rust just feels more user-friendly with its immutability, explicit trait implementations, and methods split by trait, especially compared to Go.
