I had a nice lunch with friends and will eat with family. After work I’m gonna ride my horse.

It’s my 67th birthday. I’m unexpectedly spending it setting up retirement so I can go do good things and fight for my rights and the rights of my friends. It will be okay #retirement #resistance

I finished two months in my calendar-style temperature blanket. It’s ok.

Geez. Things are bad enough, but the current administration has made them even worse for me. I lost my job because my employer has lost government contracts. I’m too expensive, and besides, when cuts are made, training is first, and training contractors the first of those. More in comments.

Here’s my buddy from this morning at Inks Lake State Park.

Hi to anyone here who reads messages on topics other than politics. I lost my job yesterday, not from DOGE. Not quite sure why. But, hey, if you need a writer, blogger or trainer, especially in #planview software, I’m your gal. #jobloss #remotework

Good day for the #backyardbirdcount today. It stopped raining and I got 46 species. This is a Carolina Chickadee.

Goldie had the best last day I could give her. It helped me, too, to sit on the floor holding her head in my lap for an hour. We sure loved her.

Making Goldie comfortable in her final days.

I met a nice birder from San Antonio who uses similar camera equipment to me. I learned lots and helped him spot birds. I love camping. #chokecanyonstatepark #birding #birds

I finally had a good day taking bird photos.

I’m awake. This squirrel is not.

This is why we say my dog Carlton can’t hold his licker. #dogs

My #turkey Connie Gobbler is officially a hen turkey today. She laid her first little egg. Later ones will be bigger

Finally we are getting real rain. It’s so welcome. We need to fill up our ponds (cattle tanks).

I love our Great Blue Heron. It’s cleaning up after a rain. Milam County, Texas. #birds

So glad to get some rain.

My husband and I have to do something in Austin today. I went to put on a jacket and realized I felt safe wearing the jacket with my pins. Most of my time in Texas I don’t wear it.

This is the kind of random texts I get. Someone thinks everyone in my county is a Republican, I guess. You can see my response.

My horse trainer found a way to blame anything bad that happened on Biden. Taking her cue, it’s T****’s fault that some doofus just backhoed down the only Osage Orange tree on my property. He was “cleaning up” by the pond. I’d been told new owners wouldn’t fuck with the trees. Also our snow sucked.

Having fun on FB unfollowing our new overlords and any “friends” expressing glee. Took yesterday off and watched The West Wing ALL DAY. Also. Our snow sucked.
January 21, 2025 at 2:22 PM
I can tell I’m concerned about tomorrow. I’m really clumsy, even tripped and fell while #birdwatching - ugh. Welcome new followers from #cronesofanarchy too. So, what are you watching tomorrow instead of inauguration coverage? I’ll be knitting w/ The West Wing.

When you know a polar vortex is coming, you sure make the most of a sunny day in the 50s. Connie Gobbler is thankful for her heat lamp and indoor water bucket. She’s prepared! #texasweather

The Earth is incredible. We should take care of it.
