One of my favorite parts of being back in Montana is spending time with my MA advisor (and one of my favorite people) @herstoryprof.bsky.social!

If you’re in the Triad area join us at the Greensboro History Museum this Saturday! I’ll be one of the afternoon speakers, discussing the 1974 NC Supreme Court race.

Today I was honored to celebrate Black History Month at the NC Supreme Court with some of my favorite jurists and North Carolinians to discuss Judge Elreta Alexander’s legacy.

If you’re in Raleigh, NC this Friday come celebrate Black History Month with some outstanding NC politicians and legendary jurists of color ….. and me. It’ll be a great morning celebrating Black lawyers and judges who changed the history of NC!

Hi everyone! I'm super excited (and quite intimidated) to be invited to discuss Judge Alexander at the NC Supreme Court alongside those she inspired. If you're in Raleigh that day come check it out (it's open to the public). There is sure to be some interesting - and relevant - conversation.

I might research this later, but are in historians out there familiar with Volcano Masonry in Atlanta? Found in the fireplace (that we rarely use) in our 1929 Winston-Salem, NC home.

Would love to be at #AHA25, but spent my 43rd with this husband of mine, Hamilton, a delicious dinner, and some bubbly.

My last post might have been about loss. But this one is about pure joy and abundance. Happy Holidays!! ❤️ 🎄 🎅

My dad died on Dec 20, 2019. if there’s one thing I’ve learned about grief, it’s not to have it. Expressing too much grief is the surest way to lose “friends.” But I’m working on that (w/ some help from @andersoncooperfnz.bsky.social’s podcast). And I was happy to spend this past weekend….

Increasingly my primary focus is The Source Historical Consulting. One project in particular is here in Winston-Salem, & I’m obsessed w/ this picture (courtesy of the NC Collection @ the Forsyth Co Public Library). My city, and its wealth, was built on the backs of these tobacco stemmers.

If you’re able to get up to the NC High-country to pick out your Xmas tree, I suggest Lyalls Nursery in West Jefferson. Eddie Lyall lost a lot of his trees in Helene. But we managed to find the perfect one!
