some of my thoughts that no one asked for

(wicked: for good spoilers below)
“— this was a genuine improvement on act 2 but i'm still really curious to see how people who have never seen the musical react to it — keala settle was wasted in these movies and she should've been cast as morrible — i'm so happy they weren't afraid to make the transformations a bit silly and uncanny. and all practical effects too!!! — they also nailed the physicality. the way tin man drags his feet around and scarecrow always stumbling was PERECT — generally just huge kudos to ethan. i knew he'd nail this role and he did not disappoint — the colouring was somehow still bland as hell sorry — also some of the audio mixing seemed off? like i know the songs and i could barely make out the lyrics for the first few numbers” “— i get the point but i don't love the choice to add glinda to wonderful. it just takes away from the point of the song imo — THEY CUT THE BEST TRANSITION IN THE ENTIRE SHOW (INTG REPRISE INTO ALAYM) MY HEART SANK — maybe it was my crowd but i think some comedic moments didn't translate well to screen? (e.g. fiyero's "let the green girl go") — cynthia & jonny's chemistry (especially as two queer people) was fucking incredible and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying — the new songs were very meh. i like the emotional depth the scenes added but musically and lyrically they were just dull tbh — the homages to the original ending were a really nice touch. i'm glad they left it on a more upbeat note than the musical does — "i love you" "i love you too" and i could not see though my tears”
