Took my Vertebrate Biology students to Ellis Creek in Petaluma yesterday, to start getting their heads around bird identification. After rain all week, we had perfect weather. There’s a Pied-billed Grebe in the photo, although too small to really see.

While I was out catching Pokémon today, I spotted a gorgeous little Townsend’s Warbler in a tree in my neighborhood park. I only had my phone with me, so I wasn’t able to get any decent photos. Instead, I did a quick digital painting.
