detention of UN personnel by the Houthi terrorists in North Yemen. The international community must shame the Houthis and hold them accountable for their violations and reject the Houthis’ weaponization of aid, and the use of threats and kidnappings as a bargaining chip.

They said it was a Muslim Brotherhood project that aimed to form forces outside official security institutions of Hadramaut, replace Hadhrami Elite Forces, & impose arbitrary measures that harmed citizens. The attendees reaffirmed their commitment to Hadramaut's stability & agreed on the following:

If the world had taken a firmer stance earlier—by enforcing @UN resolutions, holding Iran accountable for arming the Houthis, & preventing the Houthis from dictating the terms of peace—the situation might be different today. Instead, Yemenis&world are paying for yrs of inaction& misguided diplomacy.

Meanwhile, the Houthis used ceasefires & negotiations to regroup, rearm, and expand their control.
2025, Houthis have graduated from a domestic rebel group to a global threat. Their attacks on Red Sea shipping disrupted global trade, forcing the U.S. to launch a new bombing campaign in Yemen.

The agreement was meant to de-escalate fighting around Hodeidah, but it gave Houthis control over a critical port while they continued their military expansion unchecked.

Rather than forcing the Houthis to abide by their commitments, intal comm repeatedly sought compromises that legitimized them.

This triggered Op Decisive Storm, on March 26, 2015.

Although Aden & rest of the South was liberated by end of 2015. Failure to hold the Houthis accountable, combined w shortsighted peace deals like the Stockholm Agreement in 2018, emboldened the Houthis & derailed liberation of the North.

This marked a significant escalation in the conflict, since the Houthis seized the capital Sana’a in September 2014, and started marching South.

The attack in Aden was a direct challenge to Hadi’s authority and signaled that the Houthis were extending their military campaign beyond North Yemen.
