We released set of slides which is focused on Haptophrya planariarum in Dugesia gonocephala planarians. This endobiont is very common, most of my Dgon slides have at least one ciliate. WSI of 6 samples is available at bioosm.brmlab.cz/histolka/pro... #protistsonsky 🌿 #invertebrate

Strigeid metacercaria shenanigans continuing. Cysts were isolated from Erpobdella octoculata leeches. Polarized for visualization of double-layered cyst wall. One cercaria got out of the cyst, received mugshot as well. Barcoding primers are on the way. #parasitology #FlatwormFriday #invertebrate

Our upcoming paper explores the hidden world of parasites infecting invasive land planarians — yes, even invaders can have their own invaders.🧪

Huge polyclad pancake sampled today at Mar Del Plata Canyon, Argentina by @schmidtocean.bsky.social. I didn't spotted any significant head features like any type of tentacles which are present in various polyclad group. Available at www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttYm...

Another bunch of deep sea polyclads from @schmidtocean.bsky.social Argentina dive 819. Longer ones are somebody from Boninioidea? Really not sure. Anyway, that canyon sediments and rocks are covered by them. Available at www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAxq... and www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJNJ...

Six of those Stylochoidea-like polyclads sampled today by
@schmidtocean.bsky.social at Mar Del Plata Canyon, Argentina, cca 2500 m. Fine large #polyclads, enough to fill few double wide slides. Good luck with future description of those. Available at www.youtube.com/watch?v=xg9N... #WormWednesday

This is so FREAKIN’ COOL! This calanoid copepod has a friend visiting…INSIDE ITS BODY!! There’s a trematode worm, a parasite, taking up pretty much every micron of this poor dude. You can see the worm’s suckers that is used to attach to its host. AWESOME!! 🦑 #plankton

Mothership of Dendrocoelum lacteum found today. We need some for our DNA barcoding shenanigans so I left my den for unexpected fieldwork today. Temperatures were rather hostile but worms are just fine. #WormWednesday 🌿 #invertebrate

Theromyzon tessulatum from weekend fieldwork session. This one had one epistylid epibiont, other glossiphonids had none. Weird, this locality is usually quite reliable on epistylid abundance. #WormWednesday 🌿 #invertebrate

I have special worms this time. This week, after 5 years of looking for planarians I found Dendrocoelum which is not D. lacteum. It's most likely D. coecum, endemic planarian which was known in Central Bohemian valleys. They need further work, 3 blind species possible. Stay tuned ;] #InverteFest

#FlatwormFriday. Taenia pisiformis scolex. 4 suckers, calcareous corpuscles in parenchyma are visible under tegument. Nice muscle fibers in parenchymal tissue. Just tiny slice, in mm scale. 500x, H&E, several frames. Not my production, operator was somebody from T. Gerrard & Co, UK #parasitology

I headed out with a torch for half an hour this evening and found this flatworm. I think it's one of the non-native ones, although the species has been in the UK since the mid 1800s.
