And more: 1.5m people in households receiving PIP are facing hunger (food insecure) + 570,000 went to a food bank in 2023/24

Despite this, the Chancellor is ploughing ahead with cuts which are likely to push a further 350-400,000 people into poverty

✅Big boost to employment support
✅Addressing paltry basic level of UC
✅Taking out some of the risk of trying out work, even if it doesn't work out
✅Involving disabled people on reforming PIP assessment

Huge scale of cuts coming for PIP from Nov 2026 - DWP has said it wants to protect people who most need it, but it's hard to see how people with high levels of need won't be caught up

The arbitrary hollowing out of support for young people in UC (subject to consultation) - if someone aged 18-21 has a serious health condition or disability (essential to get this support in the first place), surely we must protect them from hunger and hardship?

How ppl's UC is affected: Freeze + cuts to extra UC support for people who can't work + increasing conditionality - we know the fear + impact of sanctions can be devastating, esp for disabled people. You can't say this in one sentence and talk about restoring faith in the next.
