There's 10 kinds of people in the world, those who know binary and those who don't.

Accountant, rocket scientist, former corporate spy. Excel guru and steel bike aficionado.

Even more showed up?!

It's deja vu all over again, companies emphasizing EBITDA, weird sales and leases between parties. We just need Arthur Andersen back as an auditor for the historical reenactment.

I can't wait to find out that one AI company is misrepresenting their demand growth ala WorldCom.

I'm confused by the revenue comment.

Extending depreciation increases profit not revenue.

People have incredibly short memories, we had a data center boom in 2004 and there was such a collapse that one of the premier and best built centres became a parking / maintenance garage for the police on the cheap.

All I want is to be able to import Excel and give me WoW and MoM changes

Too bad there's no rouge in the NFL

Yeah.

I hate to act just on vibes but this doesn't vibe.

I'm starting to get into the first book as an audiobook. It's perfect commuter listening. No complicated names that sound alike, chapters that are basically the length of a day's train travel.

I wasn't clear. I've spoken to 7 people about the job, all friends/colleagues. 2 are a definite no, 1 is for taking it, 4 lean no but are maybe.

About the only people left to talk to would be her old boss or my old bosses.

The consensus is that if I'm this unsure, it's not the right spot for me.

Unlikely, I'm pretty much top of band already so it's not really a factor.

But I haven't discussed cash yet.

I'm flip flopping on this with every call

I'm up to talking to 7 people on this. Probably over three hours of discussion for a 45 interview.

Deciding against it. It's a step back towards finance and not playing to my strengths.
November 9, 2025 at 3:33 PM
Like it's a step back into something I've already done, but I'm not sure WTF my current job is and what I do afterwards.

We're going to see a repeat of my favourite financial result - the negative revenue.

This whole ouroboros of inter-related revenues and costs and investments is this generations Enron/WorldCom.
