anyway tl;dr: i think that every character someone creates and plays says something about who they are, even if they’re not modeling it after themselves or trying to reveal something. that is really my favorite part of playing games like d&d, i think.

and then, in one of the final sessions before we finished the campaign, as mully was grappling one of the evil/neutral npcs that was trying to run away from the party and demanding to know why he didn’t like her, and why he didn’t want to be her friend, and i was actually starting to tear up at the

and that people lie, and they hurt others on purpose for selfish reasons, or even sometimes just for fun. including the people she trusted most, her traveling companions/friends. she did not take this newfound info super well.

really one dimensional and i talked to the DM about trying to give her some more interesting and dynamic personality traits and he made some things happen that let me start playing her more from an angle of like… beginning to realize that reality is not really what she thought it was/had been taught

in the feywild. from the start her whole schtick was that she thought everyone was her friend, she believed that anyone who was mean/evil just needed a hug, that no one ever hurt anyone else on purpose, and that she’d never been lied to before. a bit into the campaign i started to feel like she was

my fav character, mully (that i played in a wild beyond the witchlight campaign that went start to finish) was a super naive and sheltered fairy druid who had been separated from her family since she was very young and had been raised by halfling shepherds. she was searching for her real family

when i was a kid my little sister poured an entire pint of coca cola into my n64 and it still works perfectly. you can even still see the dried coke residue. they just don’t make ‘em like they used to 🥲
