We dug deep for sticks, kicked clods of shed beech between dirt and decay. We danced between the poles of spirit and nature, all our souls emerged between damp grey and apricitic blue.

Remembering to slow down. Sitting meditating on nothing, the sound of a tumbling burn, feet sunk in wispy hair grass, tormentil and tiny white heath bedstraw. House-martins hunting midges.

It’s so easy to find beauty in a morning like this, even in a freshly cut tree stump there is a wondering. After we had chased sticks we sat in the woods amidst the birdsong. Nothing unusual or remarkable, the usual suspects, but how beautiful it sounded.
