I dropped the book when it was revealed that the bad king was actually turned evil by the magic of the (also very handsome) good king who is secretly an evil wizard and the mage and the evil king get back together and the tyrant stuff and the harassment are forgiven.

A literal housecat achieves more than he does, despite him having survived a dystopian future and allegedly being one of the top mages of his own future.

Cool concept! Unfortunately, it's a classic style romance novel, so the main character is an incompetent doormat whose only function in the story is to be harassed by every handsome man, blush a lot, fail to see the most obvious things and be saved by other characters.

Unfortunately, their souls are intertwined so the evil king is also sent back, so now they're feuding covertly while the mage is trying to figure out why things went so wrong.

An archmage from an increasingly dystopian future beset by magical calamities and an evil tyrant king (his husband) prepares his last resort and sends his mind back 30 years into his 20-something body so he can kill his to-be husband and save the future.
