Backstory: The Jonas Brothers were rather quiet during the 2024 election. This retweet has (former) fans in uproar as it is seen as an endorsement of Maersk, and in extension, president-elect Drumpf. It also doesn‘t help the larger picture that Jonas has been married since 2018 to Indian actress Priyanka Chopra, a practising Hindu, who has raised eyebrows in the past with her apparent support for Indian-nationalist stances while India is ruled by „India’s Trump“ Modi, a Hindu-nationalist populist and quasi-authoritarian prime minister.
