we wanted to make samus’s experience as a capable woman more realistic, so we gave her an annoying man who thinks that he’s funny and constantly telling her what to do

Especially when 8GB will result in big bottlenecks, selling it as a 1080p/1440p low to mid range PC would have been better provided they price it accordingly.

350-400 bucks territory would make it appealing but beyond that you are getting into PS5 territory so the appeal will be lessened.

Even if it wasn't as feature rich or as accurate as some high demeaning (hardware wise) CRT shaders having official remasters come with some sort of simple filter with decent options would make the package way more appealing over adding pixel/texture filter or weird asset upscaling to everything.

DMC1 vs 3 is a good example, the former can still great with its res bumped on PCSX2 while 3 looks like the way worse looking of the 2. Set DMC3 to original resolution and even with just the basic built-in scanline filter its graphical profile makes more sense and looks fantastic.

Something I have been thinking since I changed to using OG res on some of my emulators, while some games can still look great or we can argue better on a clear screen with their res bumped others were clearly designed to take advantage of the quirks of the screens they were initialled displayed on.

She even had the chance to go through Crystal Dynamics archives and uncover stuff from the infamous amount of cut content that was different from the leaked builds and add it as a bonus material for the fans.

But the way the end package comes together feels like disservice to her efforts.

They hired a long time community member that spent years finding the original sources for textures and sometimes redoing them from scratch and the results shows in that if it weren't for the HD models trying to replicate the look of the OG promotional CGI material I wouldn't even think about it.

Aspyr can be frustrating in that they seem to care enough about authenticity on the developmental side to the point of hiring people in the community that are extremely dedicated and knows the ins and out of a game but end result ends up being wonky.

And this not even accounting for the game having random regular stutters that I can't fix as a AMD GPU user.

And I have been noticing all these other inconsistencies and technical issues that put me off the experience, like restoring the cut day/night cycle is cool but sometimes results in this.

A rather messy review and I'm not fully satisfied with it but needed something to break the ice after not writing one for so long

Feels like we are looking at the BIG number without applying any sort of context. Yeah the huge quantity of releases can interfere with visibility....for small indie developers.

I don't think it would interfere with say a hypothetical EA/activison/ubisoft/wtv published 10 million budget AA game.
