Also frankly this business about saying there's 'no serious evidence' that they were influenced by the governments of the people they were neighbors with for hundreds of years, versus the christian monarchies in Europe they fled, while claiming they were just a bunch of rome nerds... is... thin.

Well yeah my point is that they cut out the vital parts that resulted in the American nations having actually good governments, like principles of unanimity and swift recall of representative.

Dude what the fuck are you even talking about here, the obvious twisted inconsistencies of the founders' political statements was obvious to basically everybody at the time including their direct allies and they were commented on in their letters.
November 17, 2025 at 7:29 AM
They were a bunch of dishonest shitheads. Thomas Jefferson was talking about how he didn't think black people could understand Euclid while he was writing letters back and forth with Benjamin Banneker!

Buddy there were a lot of international federations on the continent that the framers had to deal with and the iroquois confederacy was kind of a shitty violent empire. Their direct problems were related to people simply defecting to smaller egalitarian Atlantic nations.

The fact that they were outliers isn't important for 'inspiring' the American system, shouldn't they have only looked to the exceptional cases? But also they wouldn't have thought of 'mass participation' as a good thing, as the American founders didn't either. Government was a task for the wise.

This is just wrong and any scholar of the politics of the nations of North America during early European contact could tell you just how wrong it is.

Representativism was strongly coupled with the notion that a representative should be subject to prompt removal!
November 17, 2025 at 6:29 AM
Most of them existed on the American continent and almost all had provisions for the immediate recall of representatives that were acting in bad faith

Did you read my comment? That's what I was saying. Our system foreclosed those remedies intentionally, and it was not in line with most electoral democracies that existed when our constitution was written.
November 17, 2025 at 6:24 AM
The idea that no remedy could be obtained is just horseshit, it's a result of the notion that the voter has one and only one opportunity to express their will and if they miss their chance it's a logistical impossibility to do anything about it, which absolves us of any responsibility to them.

I'm beginning to suspect that running a payment processing startup in particular is very bad for you somehow, it's going to turn out that the time travelers are desperately trying to get FedNow to be invented in 1997 or something

The University of Chicago Economics department should have had its matriculation gates guarded by thousands of hungry monsters like Naomi Novik's scholomance books

November 15, 2025 at 4:46 PM
Yeah I think people were quick to paint her as somebody being oppressed and rejected for her sheer reasonableness or something when she's more like one of those Cuban expats who are still upset that their family's slave plantation was expropriated and they want it back with interest

Hold on, does Megyn Kelly think that knowing somebody THIS close to Epstein is a good thing that makes her more credible?
