SACN (adding to WHO) recommends not giving drinks sweetened with sugar or NSS and giving unsweetened food to young kids.For older children and adults, SACN states that swapping sugars for NSS may help reduce sugar intake from foods and drinks, at least in the short term, but avoid long term use.

In 2023, the federal government spent more on Medicare than Medicaid ($1,029.8 billion compared to $871.7 billion). Yet our legislators are going after Medicaid that covers children rather than Medicare which covers seniors.
