Hear, hear! Ever since Thatcher, politicians of all stripes have deliberately used this incredibly bogus metaphor - household debt is nothing like national debt. 'Maxxing out the national credit card' is an equally misleading phrase.

I asked a group of students how many asylum seekers were admitted to the UK in 2024. Most estimates were over a million. Real number is about 40,000. People like Farage talk about "invasion;" as in my house was invaded when my niece came for tea and brought her husband too.
