Retired ecologist & land management adviser. Trying to make sense of mad world & planetary breakdown. Pottering cyclist.

Now I am retired I have a little more time to understand some world history a bit better. I just picked this @nationalgeographic.bsky.social special edition up from the local supermarket. It gives a very succinct overview to WW2.

People of our generation were taught a hugely sanitised version of history. Yesterday I was pleased to see the National Trust explaining the background to the building of one of its stately homes in the 19th century. £ from exploiting guano and Peruvian and Chinese slave labor.

On a roll making kimchi. So cheap to make but expensive if you buy it. Cut-up veg, 2% salt by weight of veg, other seasoning EG dill, ginger, mix then bash down with pestle in old coffee jar. Add a little water if needed.

The business model of this company seems to be to sell stuff so cheap as to eradicate all other competition. It is everywhere on social media at present. Be aware.
