Not to mention the social learning mentioned here, also being further undermined by the interaction model LLM tools have been deployed within. It's isolating and destabilising the team collaboration working software engineers depend on, that loss of trust making peer learning even more challenging.

Determining what is worth learning has always been tricky around tech because it's constantly changing, and it's extremely dependent on individual or shared goals.

Vibe coding platforms aimed at non coders are misleading users when it comes to what learning will be necessary, as evidenced by the tremendous amount of churn they're now seeing. On the other hand the dismissal of generative coding is characterised by a lot of gatekeeping..
