Escaped hack. Now of Edinburgh, previously of Essex, Estonia & Falkland Islands.
There was one in the red sandstone building when it first reopened, whose entire window display was just 6 donuts, each on their own individual tall plinths in the window, and nothing else.
It was like Soviet minimalism meets hipster sweet treats.

I love the way he’s pointing, it’s a proper newspaper “tell the story in your photo” pic 😄

The revolution will be… painted by Thomas Kinkade, apparently.

Yeah. Wildly impractical really, but so lovely.

My parents’ house still has the original 1930s wooden framed windows complete with curved corner panes, all restored. Only ones left in the street. Whenever the time comes for it pass to new owners, I know they’ll go 😞

Ah, as brewed by my pal Jeff! (Though he started the brewery after I left, so I’ve never tasted his beers…).
Yeah, the sun there is deceptively strong, so easy to get burned.

Was always fascinating to see the different reactions - on sunny days, you could see them all looking at me enviously wondering how I got to live the dream.
On the dreich days, they clearly thought I was totally mad 😄

Ah, that’s good. I used to love giving the Stanley tours. Just getting a bus full of people who are all so happy to be on holiday, showing them round a place you love, was great.

Ahh happy memories 🍖 🥩 🥓🍗 Was more like 15-20 years ago for me, but I don’t imagine it’s changed much!

Recommend a trip to the meat market if you’re a carnivore (Mercado del Puerto, I think). They even made deep fried tripe tasty!
Do you call at the Falklands? I used to be a tour guide on the buses in Stanley, showing cruise ship visitors around. Loved that job 🐑 🐧 🚌

I ran round it recently doing parkrun, will definitely have to venture back in soon!

When I was 16, I even bought my family’s first VCR from my Saturday job savings so I could watch Twin Peaks when it clashed with Youth Theatre.
