That's wonderful. I have previously spent the first couple lectures on teaching them how to look for things, how to use zotero etc, and create annotated bibliographies. Your idea of sitting with the student and searching with them is great!

How do you handle this in the classroom? I have been leaning towards asking the students to 'show their work'. Let me see the chat history and the kind of questions you asked the model. Use AI all you want but let me see how you are using it.

have tried a bunch of sciency AI models. Perplexity, sciteAI, consensus. They are decent at giving a couple main papers if you ask it to give citations for a claim you make. But fall short of just the usual searching a database through keywords.

I agree with this explanation. Humans find all sorts of animals beautiful. Its also a cultural phenomenon. think of depictions of animals in myths and modern animations like The Lion King etc. sure that has a big influence. having said I have seen really ugly lions in documentaries!

It's terrible, but identifying my circle of control and circle of influence helps mentally.

The only thing working in Australia's favor is how much time is left in the game. India will have to post a target upwards of 300+ to bat australia out of the game and that is still a long way away.

If India does loose one they will be 3 down in no time given the recent history. On the other hand if you are the bowling team you hope for a half chance and a run out. Australia had that in the space of two balls.

Very wholesome. Love the idea of taking the students to field trips to labs and such. My favorite courses in grad school were the 1 cr seminars on Friday where there was often pizza and at times beverages.
