Every 10 days or so, I make a 3-gallon batch of my specialty chai blend. I walk through my apothecary for the cordyceps, the home-dried citrus peels, the freshly ground nutmeg to add in ...

Spent the weekend making dozens up on dozens of formulas and filling herbal orders in the Apothecary. Yesterday, I had to recover by doing nothing. Aaaabsolutely nothing
And it was everything I thought it would be.

Medicine is fluid in this house. Had the flu in January and was given this bottle to help recover. This means "lung chi weakness"... For as long as the label stays on the bottle.

My morning banana peel goes into a gallon of water, and then I cover it. The next day I use it to water my indoor plants for extra nutrients and they seem to thrive in this high altitude environment

Long term food storage is a lot more than just canning. Here is a quart glass jar of dehydrated grapefruits, Persian limes, Meyer lemons, + oranges. Winter citrus fruits dehydrated for teas, baking, medicine making.

Absolutely loved spending time last week haunting one international grocery after another ... Fresh ginger root by the pound, allspice and cinnamon bark, bags of cloves and boxes of soft chewy dates... Everything for making my specialty chai blend.

Last weekend, I harvested a few of these spineless cactus pads. They are incredible herbal first aid medicine, and I will be able to easily propagate them by just laying them in a planter pot, or putting them onto the ground.

This piece of art was made 10 years ago at our San Antonio campus to voice the school's mission to build community, host barters, & teach sustainable skills courses. I saw it this past weekend and wanted to share the beauty of this simple, always timely and important message.

I was nervous about working with the radios during search and rescue training, so I asked to run Base during the January winter training. Now I feel so much more confident about my radio etiquette!

I've been working 4-5 days a week in the herbal apothecary, & very comfortable with multifractional extraction processing.
In February, I'll focus more on herbal first aid formulas that go into our field first aid kits. Tune in for what's next!
