As things continue to unfold in the USA remember that with the economy, inflation is the key we must manage, not the national debt.

I woke up expecting to spend the entire day working on my new book. Instead, I sat around agitating over something I found in my inbox. It was Bloomberg’s Weekend Edition, and it began, “This week we’...

@smerconish.bsky.social Fed deficit - we’re missing the Forrest. Our “interest” fuels the economy including your bond interest and gov programs. Managing inflation is the key. It’s not the deficit number. If we had a balanced budget the economy would crumble shortly after it was established.

@smerconish.bsky.social Michael, hi. Love the daily show and GO BIRDS!

Consider having @stephaniekelton.bsky.social on the show. She has great insight on our Deficit and can shed new light on the subject for your listeners. She just authored this -

The administration continues to push the limit to see how much they can get away with. Where are the Democrats? I realize the “people have spoken” however our checks and balances need to also be in place. Come out from behind the rock, we need some balance.

@smerconish.bsky.social When it comes to diversity, we only look at what is visible (race, sex, etc). If we value diversity we need to consider backgrounds and other items. You can’t assume, because we look different, we are diverse. Digging deep to understand if someone is really diverse is hard.

@smerconish.bsky.social The debt ceiling is irrelevant and simply saber rattling. Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) focuses on inflation and not our National debt. We as a Country must decide what we want to spend our money on, not how much.

@stephaniekelton.bsky.social It’s been very interesting to hear all the “saber rattling” on the debt ceiling. It’s all for nothing and just pushes political agendas. Thanks for the education on MMT.
