Today is the South African wine industry's birthday. Our wine industry is unique in having a recorded birth date. On 2 February 1659 the Dutch governor wrote: “Today praise be to God, wine was made for the first time from Cape grapes”. So today we are 366years fabulous.

Famous Filipino artist, Pancho Piano, has created a vibrant mural in Kalk Bay. It honours the Filipino seafarers who first settled here in the 19th century and whose descendants still live here in our lovely village.

Water bombing on Trappieskop behind our home in Kalk Bay Cape Town. Wild fires are common here and we are so grateful to our brilliant firefighters. 3 hours ago the whole mountain was in flames.
