For me, it’s more about getting good concept art and using references for details. “There’s beauty in simplicity” is very applicable when it comes to low poly sculpting.

I've been modeling characters for over 10y. So I have a lot of experience. I'm new to animals, but with zbrush it's a breeze if you understand general anatomy, and trans from 2D to 3D. You want to use a lot of refs, especially if you're starting out. But will always need a couple.
