Note that none of these people signed up to work for ICE: They were hired by a charter company that said they'd be serving "exclusive" clients like corporate execs and entertainment stars. Instead, they're told to stand aside and not interact with terrified children.

He tried to slip snacks to the kids. “Even the chaperones were like, ‘Don’t give them any food,’” he said. “And I’m like, ‘Where is your humanity?’” (A second flight attendant said that children on a New York flight were fed by their escorts.) While flight attendants were allowed to interact with the guards, the dynamic was uncomfortable. It came down to a question of who was in charge — and which agency, ICE or the FAA, ultimately held sway. (The FAA declined to comment on this story and directed questions to ICE.)"

The reward for Stephen Miller and his ilk is also on earth. They look tough. They're doing something. That they are not even doing 0.01% of what it would take to solve the problem-that, at much more risk to themselves, the most they could probably do is 0.05%-matters not. They can milk it as far as it goes. They, too, will sell books.

This week, I got the weirdest excuse ever for quitting a losing game of #chess. On Gameknot, I was one move away from taking their queen when they resigned saying, "I don't like conditional moves. It seems arrogant."
