So I must admit I saw the original once like 30 years ago. So I’m judging this one almost entirely on the movie I watched and not a comparison to the original animated story. That said, I really liked it.

Ultimately there’s a reason this has such high fan reviews on rotten tomatoes and did so well opening weekend. It’s a good movie and a more memorable remake than the original.

Based on these assertions I’m just going to assume you didn’t actually see the new one. The entire first 10 minutes is about lilo being different. The rest of the movie focuses on found family.

Movie was great. I’d argue better than the animated version. Casting was excellent.

Trey Lance is my favorite. SF gave up 4 picks to get him and basically had him for, what, a year? What an absolute disaster. It's not just about how high they picked him, and how little they got out of him, but what they gave up to get him
