At least in my German bubble no one is afraid, no one prepares and a whole lot of people aren't aware of the actual dangers awaiting us.

Im September haben wir in mindestens zwei Nächten große Starrflügler über meinem Arbeitsplatz (Raffinerie) gesichtet... habe ich in meinen fast 20 Jahren hier nie erlebt.
