Being taught by Dr. Fouts was one of the greater joys of my academic life. His refrain, whether it was regarding autistic kids or non-human species, was: "Different is not defective."

Oh I feel so much SAFER with gun-toting troops in masks and armored vehicles kidnapping my neighbors!

Some of my fondest memories of parenting were of sharing my favorite stories of my childhood with my son by reading them to him. (When we finished all 7 Narnia books he asked me to start them over, a very pleasant surprise.)

<shocked gasp!>

My God, man, what are you suggesting ?!?

This is not new. I remember movie critics Siskel and Ebert having a segment on their TV show in the early 1990s called "How Can They Afford That Apartment?"

Even opinions that seem to agree with the party line are frowned upon.

Images that have writing are a particular challenge for LLMs and their particular brand of image generation. If you don't care what the writing says, you can sometimes get a serviceable one. Most of the time, you're lucky if the text is even legible.

He accused his opponent of doing so because he himself is that person, and he can't imagine another person not being that way. That's what passes for empathy, in his mind.

How in the WORLD did you time that lick pic so perfectly?

I always did suspect my own existence was a mere illusion. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

It's from a short story by Jerome Bixby. There were sentences in that story that haunted me for years. I never managed to see the TV episode (or, for that matter, the movie).

It's me. Hi! I'm the problem, it's me.

This question applies to all powers of the presidency now that the US electorate cannot be trusted to choose someone even marginally competent for the job.

Exactly my point. If it's the campaigns that are trading or selling our data, then (Kat's own campaign notwithstanding), we can't even send campaigns a check in the mail without fearing a deluge of solicitations.

Are you suggesting that it's not ActBlue cross-pollinating our data to other candidates, but that instead it's the democratic campaigns themselves that are selling our data to each other?

Seems insidious. I'm not convinced that's not actually worse!

I love discussions on whether the Constitution is constitutional!

He was just stumbling in jest.

I completely agree! I was ready to donate until I saw it was ActBlue. I had a visceral recoil in response to seeing that and said "I'll give more to the PAC I like instead."

The only off-brand thing about this is the commitment was not from Trump himself.
