Birding, butterflies & dragonflies, nature generally. Walking, angling, real ale, the odd airshow.

This swallowtail was in my daughter’s North Walsham garden yesterday. Not the best pics so I can’t tell if it’s a Norfolk local or continental.

Gruesome find this morning. Elephant hawk moth with what appears to be a parasite emerging. The moth was not quite dead whilst the parasite did seem to be dead. @gavinbroad.bsky.social James Emerson thought this might be of interest due to it being an adult moth.

American wigeon and his Eurasian partner this evening at Kelling Water Meadows, Norfolk. Marcus Nash put out the news this morning and luckily it stuck around for me until this evening when I was able to go see it.

I’ve turned off ‘show reposts’ in settings and my feed is all the better for it.
Now it’s only your posts from you lovely people.
Sadly, unlike twitter, this can’t be done by individual followed. It’s all or no-one.
I’ll miss a few things that I’d like to see, but the benefit outweighs the loss.

A change of plan found us at NWT Thorpe Marshes Norfolk this afternoon after the news of a possible red necked grebe was confirmed. Not close and poor visibility in the mist but always nice to see.

Bird of the day was this lovely penduline tit at Titchwell. After a fruitless wait this morning, the news came during lunch back at the car that it had been relocated and an indigestion inducing dash to Patsy’s pool was rewarded with excellent views.
