The sweetest 2 words to type!

I’ve spent this weekend away from home to finish this book and I’m so pleased I’m finally there - it’s taken a long time and it’s been the hardest book to write and finish (maybe because it’s a sequel?) but it’s done! 🙌

Now the dreaded editing and rewrites! 😭

I had to sell about 300 books yesterday to do it, but it tops a great first year as an independent author after also winning my first award, too!❤️

The yoyo life of an author - and a reminder that you will NEVER get universal approval of your work (as if that exists in any facet of life).
This lovely review (image below) was followed by a 1 star review that simply stated 'I have no words'.
Review reads: I received a copy to review for BBNYA, and my review has been withheld until after the competition ended. I was very lucky to receive this through more than one of the stages of BBNYA, not because reading 2k and 10k excerpts are really my thing, but because this was so enjoyable. A middle grade scifi/fantasy adventure featuring ghosts? Those are some of my favorite things! This novel has so much growth to it, and I love that the author showed the main character going back and forth in her growing just like children do. There’s so much heart and struggle in this one and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters, from Eva, the first human born on Mars, to her friends, the cast is diverse and interesting and they react and respond like actual friends do. The science is there, but not overwhelming as it’s targeting kids. The same can be said for the action. It’s thrilling without being too much, but it does have realness to it. Personally a 5/5*

As we approach a traditional time for giving, a reminder that the best gift you can give an author is to review their book (or buy it if you haven't yet).

If you've read either of my books (Ghosts of Mars or The Nameless) I'd really appreciate a rating/review on Amazon or Goodreads (or anywhere really!).

Despite selling thousands of books, I've yet to hit 100 reviews (my target for this year!) and would love that before the end of the year!

In 2 weeks my 3rd book will be out in the world! It's been a whirlwind of a year, where I've been editing mostly, but have learned so much about distribution and marketing and branding and a million other small skills. It's been a huge commitment and amount of work, but so worth it.
