I think the other problem with TRM is that the message of it is much less "wild future dystopia" and more, "oh damn, this is too real"

I liked MUCH of Baby Driver, but TRM feels like the tone of that final act of BD stretched out into a whole movie(which is not a compliment). Hot Fuzz is the easy touchpoint - yes its violent, sometimes brutally so, but it has a vibe that keeps it infinitely rewatchable.

and what's weird is that Edgar Wright has a strong track record of fun being a big part of why his movies are so memorable. this one really isn't that much fun. a shame.

I believe the phrase "every accusation is a confession" is wildly applicable here.
