Rotary Ashgrove/The Gap doing their annual fundraising drive. There's been quite a bit of movement with properties changing hands, so while there are some young families about, many will be new to this annual tradition.

Wow, must be ideal solar conditions today… 503W is a record for this system. #solar #solarcluster

Helpfully, BOQ's internet banking seems to be down… not sure why, there is money in the account. Luckily my old passbook account at Suncorp now has Internet banking enabled, and cash to spare… so I'll pay the bills from that.

Utterly boring afternoon, seems like a good time for this classic. Might have to see if `pipewire` can do UDP streaming as TCP occasionally glitches, but otherwise I have sound through the stereo.

But whatever, it's entertainment.

Obligatory feline shot, this was yesterday morning. Pets always seem to know when you're off-colour and need some support. I wouldn't be getting this support in the acute pain ward of the hospital.

For crying out loud #ti libgconf is ancient crap … node-webkit is dead, why do you keep using it? Why not just add necessary support to openocd and be done with it instead of insisting on proprietary tools?

And no, the hyperlink is not clickable.

Looks like we've got a guest… hopefully won't raise a stink when the car gets moved… #wildoz #birds

Current mood: very subdued. I'm under doctors' orders to rest up after a probable diverticulitis flare-up. Sam's providing support. #catsofmastodon

It does explain the sudden jumps in voltage though for the battery… a 30A charger does not charge a 600Ah battery bank _that_ quickly!

The telltale "click" when I pushed the battery lead into the SB50 housing was all I needed to know what's going on.

Me: WTF? Why is the washing machine drawing over 4kW from a standard 10A domestic socket?
*fires up PMCSetup*
Me: Ohh…whoops, forgot to set the CT ratio

(They're 100A/40mA current transformers… but the active wire passes through the transformer twice… converting the 100A CT into a 50A CT.)

Yesterday, the solar circuits got re-routed and commissioning was finalised. Looks like we ran off-grid until 2AM.

Hmmm, I managed to bugger up a PostgreSQL migration, so I've turned the VM off, I'll restore it from a back-up.

Doing that… the server rack current dropped from 18A to 16A. A saving of over 20W of power.

Something went spinny spinny… politicians visiting a wind farm maybe?

One thing I hate about energy meters, is the software is _universally_ bad.

I've dealt with…
- SATEC PAS (briefly)
- EDMI EziView
- Landis Gyr's meter suite
- CET PMCSetup

All of them are their own version of terrible. Horrid UIs, crap buffering […]

Battery has its covers on. Due to rain, it's a little dangerous to go on the roof and isolate solar, so that'll be a next year job.
November 10, 2025 at 5:03 AM
Meter reprogrammed, we shouldn't need any more CTs, but got them out just in case. Got the first look at the battery & inverter.
November 10, 2025 at 3:25 AM
New thresholds, I'll re-calculate those earlier readings. I'm using a 3V threshold for first/last light now.

Also added to this are the peak/trough voltages for the battery… as the cells are rated to 2000 cycles at 80% depth-of-discharge. This […]

Looks like the thresholds for first/last light are a bit low. Overnight, one can get spikes in the solar voltage that can be over the 2V mark.

Did a bit of experimentation… there's constant debate about DST here in SE Queensland, with people who moved north from southern states saying "we should have it" and those of us who have lived here for decades saying "no we shouldn't".

The prime […]

@vk4msl Looks like this has fixed the quoting issue. Future posts by @qldfire and @vk4msl_sstv should now be quotable.

Still not excited about having it as a pop-up menu rather than as a separate discrete button, but there you go.

@vk4msl …aand I think we're back.

Ohh dear, I think I broke #wikipedia

Apparently browsing about ANSI-art was the straw that broke the camel's back.
