Because he is being uber monstered by the media. He is far better than Johnson or Truss. And the actual legislation being passed is good. He really needs to set a narrative.

I wonder how much was an attempt to please the Queen and give her favourite a proper job. He comforted himself with outrageous arrogance. It shouldn't have happened.

Whereas when I worked in one (Waterstones, trading as Dillons) you were paid until closing time, but had to keep on serving customers after that. All adds up to a lot of free work and a not very good view of your employer. Rarely buy stuff there now.
