I think it's worth noting that as of yesterday, Thelma Barlow is now the longest lived Coronation Street regular, surpassing Doris Speed who died in 1994 aged 95. Congratulations Thelma.

Having now watched Monday and Wednesday's Corrie I'm even more pissed off at the Julie reveal because it has tainted what was a good set of episodes. The Ken and Cassie stuff was brilliant. Jenny and Daisy were back on top form and at the centre of the drama again.

I can not underestimate how angry I am that that is the direction they've decided to go in with Julie's return. All enthusiasm I had last week towards her coming back has now gone. The third fucking cancer storyline in 12 months. Why would anyone want, let alone, write this.

Ideally, Jenny stays in charge of the Rovers, but if it isn't her, I'd much rather they reintroduce a past character (ie. Shelley Unwin, Gloria Todd) to take the rains than give it to anyone on the current cast.

Very happy to say I actually enjoyed tonight's Corrie, much better than the past two episodes in my opinion.

Tonight's Corrie features scenes from 2 different hospitals, the prison, the police station, and some random pub called 'The Rovers Return', which seems a bit random for this show about criminals and terminal illnesses.
February 18, 2025 at 1:32 PM
You know an episode of Corrie was pretty poor when the best and most believable part was the Gemma and Chesney storyline.

Hey ITV, one way to ease your financial problems could be to not plot out ridiculous stunts that require new sets to be built, location filming and extra crew.

Sad to see that Julian Holloway has reportedly passed away.

The Carry on Films, specifically Doctor, Camping, and Khyber, were always on rotation in my household as a kid, even if I probably shouldn't have been watching them at that age.

RIP

I do wish there was more solidarity between the soaps, because it feels quite slimy that both Corrie and Emmerdale have got big event weeks, seemingly out of nowhere, that perfectly line up with Eastenders' 40th anniversary big week.

This past month or so is the most I've believed in Kevin and Abi's relationship in the 5ish years they've been together.
February 15, 2025 at 12:26 PM
Coronation Street should show us more of the relationship between Adam and Alya. I can just picture them having an argument over what colour their kettle should be, or what brand of porridge oats they should buy, or what temperature the freezer should be set at.

Dull.

Love Mike Baldwin just constantly talking about long departed characters on Classic Corrie at the moment. Very relatable.

Just randomly remembered that Don Brennan and Ashley Peacock lived together for around a year and now my head hurts trying to comprehend that fact.

I really enjoyed Mondays Corrie, but the quality really teetered off in the following two episodes.
February 6, 2025 at 4:53 PM
Tonight's Corrie is tram Crash levels of drama, interwoven storylines, action, and quality writing.

I absolutely love that they got Malcolm Hebden to record a video for Sam Aston on Dancing on Ice. It's good to see that's he's still doing well.

I'm still never watching dancing on ice, though.

It's bittersweet watching Bev and Fred on Classic Corrie. Knowing what happens by the end of the year, all the lovely charming scenes with them just have this cloud over them.
February 1, 2025 at 4:25 PM
Ronnie Bailey made his first appearance in Coronation Street 4 years ago this month. In that time he has stood in the background on lots of scenes and well... erm... that's about it.

I wouldn't particularly care if Doctor Who was cancelled after series 15, the show hasn't been right for me for a few years now. Not that it's all been bad, but more often than not, it has been. I still love it dearly, and the old stuff is still good, but I think it needs a rest.
January 30, 2025 at 5:25 PM
My hope is that Mick and Lou will give Gemma and Chesney something entertaining to do instead of endless scenes of them worrying about their unrealistic financial situation. Fingers crossed.
January 30, 2025 at 12:47 PM
I wasn't expecting tonight's #Corrie to have a Nita Desai mention.
January 27, 2025 at 8:19 PM
Seriously now where the actual hell is that damned cast photo
January 27, 2025 at 4:19 PM
I don't like Gus and Anthea Deering but I think they're great characters and have been a good antagonistic force.
