A related thought I’ve had is it allows me to write code in what I guess id describe an async way. That fragmented time that used to be spent scrolling Twitter or Instagram can now be writing a prompt. Then submit and back to life.

For most code we write that isn’t necessary but, for the more valuable work I do, it is and I’ve never managed to achieve anything close to that just reviewing output.

You’ve worked deeply into the problem/solution enough that you can visualise what every line of code does, why it exists, where the tradeoffs are, what the next 10 steps are, exactly where the uncertainty lies etc… I have a model visualised in my head that I can manipulate, zoom in, zoom out etc…

Quite possibly, I don’t think I chose my words very carefully.

I guess I’m talking about what might be called achieving “flow state”.

For me at least that means 👇🏻

I’m moving back away from full agentic coding on production stuff for now in favour of just using it for spikes, implementing refactors and review feedback, and research.

In my experience the main problem I find with LLM driven coding is that you never get as deep into the problem space as you do when you write everything from scratch and it’s not possible to replicate that depth when just reviewing output 🤷🏻

“These LLM-generated explanations are worth stashing away somewhere, because they can make excellent context to paste into further prompts in the future.”

💯

My daily routine is gradually moving towards:
- Morning: code review, refactor and test yesterday’s work. Mix of manual and prompted.
- Afternoon: design code, prepare context and prompts
- 5pm kick off 2-3 hefty prompts in parallel in worktrees with their own DB etc…

Want to fly them on your own property or business? Fine. Go nuts. But this coordinated takeover of our streets is something else, something far more sinister.

It’s deliberately reminiscent of how fascists lined streets with Nazi flags in 1930s Germany - using public space to manufacture consent and intimidate opposition

Plenty of studies have shown how deindividuation can increase aggression and reduce inhibitions around harming others.

Also I’d guess kind of similar to the effect the introduction of body cams had.

Guessing ICE don’t wear those?

I’ve always felt this “deal maker” reputation is false with Trump. He’s a bully who knows how to use his power imbalance. If he was the president of any small-mid sized country he’d be screwed!

The UK doesn’t have the same strategic leverage. As we found out a few years back we don’t even have that kind of leverage over the EU our closest trading partner.

Ha yeah fair enough. Just thought I’d mention it as most people don’t know it’s a thing and these days I’m personally being far more careful than I used to be!

Not sure if that is your home WiFi network in the photo but if so you might not want to share it publicly as often you can geolocate it back to a pretty small area. For instance that does indeed map back to SF I won’t say where obvs.
