A 2007 reissue of the original Champ from the late 1940s. Replaced the 12ax7 with a Tung Sol and the 6V6 with an old 1943 US Navy tube from RCA.

Best thing ever. It sounds like old records.

These little UAD processors are so cheap now. Using 2 old ones and 2 quad PCIE cards. That's 12 cores, just running compressors and tape emulation mainly. Old school but cool.

So, an old British AP Benson telephone carbon piece, wired straight up with no transformer or shield into Apogee Ensemble, sounds like 1940s radio off the bat.
