Android users, I want to only get app-level notifications from mentions, not likes. Does the Bluesky app really only give me the option of likes+mentions from everyone, likes+mentions from people I follow, or nothing? Am I missing something or did they really go all in on the dopamine machine here?

Looks like @apnews.com is using AI to summarize articles without even checking for basic facts... Or are they really this ignorant about Canada? Either way, shameful.

If I am remembering 20th c history right, when the fascists take power and start making illegal, unconscionable demands, all you have to do is appease them a little. Just give in to their initial demands, ignore how they call you the enemy of the people, and they will leave you alone. 🙄🙄🙄🤔🤨🙃🤥

This flowchart just broke me. End. End. End. Of course it all makes me furious, but also I can't get over how bad this flowchart is on flowchart terms. Just unnecessary abstract formalization and complexity for absolutely no reason, other than trappings of technocracy. bsky.app/profile/darb...

🚨BREAKING. From a program officer at the National Science Foundation, a list of keywords that can cause a grant to be pulled. I will be sharing screenshots of these keywords along with a decision tree. Please share widely. This is a crisis for academic freedom & science.

The last time it rained in San Diego (more than 0.1 in / 0.25 cm in a day) was in March 2024. It finally started raining this morning and I realized I had forgotten what rain sounds like.

Looks like it is San Diego's turn for the wildfires. UCSD was so close from having to evacuate yesterday, with a fire that got a few blocks from campus. Now the border is literally on fire.

Hello world! FYI it has been years since I've had a public profile on any social media platform. I'm out of practice, I'm already feeling the familiar context collapse anxiety, and I don't want to start a new app addiction. Not sure how much I'll be on here, but let's give it a go!
