Now that this historic storm is over, we have another, likely much smaller geomagnetic disturbance in store. Coronal hole no. 95 is directly facing Earth and sending fast solar wind our way. We should start to see effects in a few days. Minor geomagnetic storming is possible.

The X5.1 CME has impacted Earth with a strength of around 37 nT. This is a strong impact, but the Bz remains positive. It is possible we see the Bz turn south, so don't get upset about this. Conditions can quickly pivot during events, especially in the beginning of a CME passage.

There are signs of the next CME approaching. Looking at low-energy particle data, there is a steep rise indicating the shock front is nearing the vicinity of Earth. This does not gaurentee an impact, but it’s a good sign.
