Grateful to my parents, who encouraged critical thinking & insisted discussions be based on facts & evidence.
Just some of Trump's 'tough' actions on drug dealers:
Ross Ulbricht - pardoned.
Alice Marie Johnson - pardoned.
Larry Hoover - granted clemency.
Juan Hernandez - pardon planned.
Jean Pink are- pardoned.
Michael Harris - pardoned.

Russian aggression has increased since Trump became President. His meeting with Putin in Alaska was a greenlight to increase attacks on Ukraine. Kushner, Witkoff & Trump assets should be seized for reparation aling with Putin's. All are complicit.

Chiropractic degree is considered professional despite its links to quack therapies, while credible health related degrees such as physical therapy, nursing, occupational therapy, audiology & public health are not.

Over 25 years ago, a friend & I discussed how we were heading towards another kingdom/serf society albeit with corporate CEOs as kings. Rather than a nationality, we would have a corporate identity, with corporate management controlling every aspect of our lives. We wished we were wrong.

I constantly tell my nephew I'm proud of him. Along with his colleagues, their medical research is making a valuable contribution to humanity. He commented that vaccines aren't responsible for autism, autism is responsible for developing life saving vaccines.

Netanyahu & Putin have thr same playbook. Send missiles, wait until rescue personnel arrive, send more missiles. They thrive on cruelty, as does Trump.

A former manager said he employed people who work smarter, not harder. Those who work extremely long hours are inefficient or unqualified for the role. They get overtired, leading to mistakes.

As National Guards have civilian jobs, as well as impacting on them personally, their deployment impacts businesses. No business can afford their staff to be indefinitely deployed in the vindictive whims of a president.

Whether you agree or disagree with this action, Opposition demonstrated how strength can be utilised in opposition, refusing to pass a budget they believed would harm Australia. While I recognise US Constitution doesn't have this provision, it's a lesson for Dems. The Opposition won the election.

50 years ago today, Governor General of Australia, under pressure from the Opposition, utilised a section under Constitution to call a double dissolution of Parliament due to budget approval deadlock. All Senate & all House seats were up for election.

Purely from the point of view that a leader with Carney's economic understanding would know the economic risks & make informed decisions. Highlights the difference with Trump's decision which was based purely on political favouritism.

Canada is not propping up the Peso. Mark Carney is a highly regarded expert on world finance. He understands risk/benefit ratios. Trump has bankrupted numerous companies. Which world leader would you trust with your finances?

'Money can't buy class' comes to mind. The Oval Office is now the height of 'vulgar chic'.
The Presidential Wall of Fame equates the Presidency with winning a sporting event. Replacing Biden's photo with an autopen signature is the act of a vindictive immature brat.

After our lecture on The Enlightenment yesterday, a number of us went to lunch. 'A House of Dynamite' was discussed. All were fearful of Trump's reaction to this scenario. All commented how we are now entering The Dark Ages again.

Westminster system has a 'caretaker convention'. Once a general election is called, gov't is in caretaker mode. While daily admin continues, the gov't is restricted from making major decisions that could bind a new gov't. This protects new gov't from last minute vindictive action of former gov't.
October 27, 2025 at 4:30 AM
In the Westminster system of gov't, the Cabinet is appointed by the Prime Minister. The Opposition Leader appoints a Shadow Cabinet. The Cabinet & Shadow Cabinet are all elected members of Parliament, not funders of the governing party.

UK, EU, Canadian, Australian & NZ citizens look on in horror that a court is determining whether to execute a citizen by gas or firing squad. The justices' only honourable determination should be that all execution is abhorrent & should be abolished.

This 'peace' deal was never anything other than a business deal. The Gazans' safety & prosperity were never a consideration in the deal. The only surprise has been how many world leaders & journalists naively celebrated it.

Oprah celebrated victimhood & promoted many alternate 'therapies' & 'therapists' who preyed on the uneducated.

'Would you mind' - you don't ask a murderer if they mind. You take action to prevent further murders. There is nothing 'a little bit light-hearted' about Ukrainians being slaughtered.

A friend & I discussed this in late 90's. As multinational corporations grew & consolidated, we feared they would become gov'ts & citizenship would be corporate, not nation based. Workers' rights & regulations would be overturned, with profits being the only goal. Sadly, our fears are being realised
