I was reading a study my city did on the best option for public transit. This page explain why sometimes a bus is simply better than a tram or other options.
One isn't better than another, it varies from city to city and road to road.

Its not really a Canadian/American thing. America's cultural influence is global, much like how Japan's and South Korea's influence is.

Seriously though, I've had so many arguments with people who don't understand that millions of people die every year, and most people don't want to flip their parent's house for sale the day after their parents die. Most vacancies have reason, its not a corporate conspiracy!

Some of these places are almost unrecognizable by how much they changed over the course of a decade. Positive change can happen and is actively happening in Huntsville.
Lets advocate for more of it!

Notice there are a lot more trees next to the towers than next to the surface parking lot.

..why can't you attribute that to building? Texas overall is building a LOT of housing.

yea, Austin Texas. Down nearly 30% since it's peak www.zillow.com/home-values/...

If an area has high demand with high upside on return, the money will certainly find its way there.

I run a local chapter. In my city, we were on the edge of legalizing ADUs a few years ago but it fell through. Having this supported or passed at the state level would certainly help.

Cities have grown since the 90s though, with rural areas shrinking. Without the allowance of density, the growth has caused prices to go up since more supply has been limited. If more density was allowed, then high population centers wouldn't see prices increase as much.
December 10, 2025 at 6:40 PM
Its due to zoning. Low density is never restricted, but high density almost always is. High density is artificially restricted by zoning laws, which makes housing prices increase when supply can't meet demand.
Allow more density, and you'll see prices go down.

Eliminate exclusive single family home zoning, eliminate parking and lot size minimums, eliminate height restrictions in most areas, and streamline permitting process to allow more housing to be built, and quicker.
December 10, 2025 at 5:48 PM
Its because cities introduced zoning laws that outlawed building more density in cities and invested most of their money into suburbs rather than downtowns. Look at Los Angeles skyline compared to the skyline of asian cities. LA is artificially flat, meaning there isn't enough housing being built.

You said no alternatives to video sharing. Now you're saying no alternatives to getting lots of views for 10+ min videos about traffic signal timing.
Those are very different things. Your videos not getting many views on other platforms doesn't mean youtube has a monopoly on video sharing as a whole
December 8, 2025 at 9:00 PM
Most of the websites I listed allow for 10 to 15 minute videos and all have many millions of users.
Again, it being the best place for your videos doesn't make it a monopoly. A monopoly is when there are no alternatives, not when a company is the best at something.

"youtube is the best place for my content" Is very different than "Youtube is the ONLY place I can post my content".
December 8, 2025 at 7:12 PM
YT doesn't have a monopoly though. You can share videos on facebook, instagram, discord, bluesky, reddit, imgur, tiktok, twitch, and many more places. There are many successful video creators who never use youtube.
