I hope to see more places doing this to ensure that our future generations have a positive place to not only play sport but also live in general. It is very unfortunate to me that people feel as though helping the environment feels like an inconvenience.

The Rider game was cancelled due to air quality. This shows how the environment can impact sport. Although the fires were not directly in Saskatchewan it goes to show how pollution/air quality travels. If we feel our emissions are not affecting us they can very likely be affecting other provinces.

That is really unfortunate. It is disappointing that businesses are needing to close due to the way we treat the earth.

I find this is a great example of how athletes can use their power for the greater good. Although they faced backlash this action is inspiration for so many people.

I would recommend watching the movie 42. It is about Jackie Robinsons life and how he overcame challenges. It is one of my favourite and most inspirational movies!

I agree with this so much! I also really appreciated this video. As a female athlete I hope one day we are represented as much as men because female sports are awesome to watch!!

Politics in sport can be a positive thing. Athletes at the Olympics have used their power to advocate for things that are important to them. For example during the 1986 Olympics in Mexico athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos raise their fists in the black power salute during the National anthem.

I think fining individuals and teams for disrespectful or discriminatory acts makes it more likely for them to not do it. Money is important to people so using it to keep people in line is I think a positive thing.

Do you think Netflix would ever start showing sports programs? Do you think they would ever share something like the World Series? Or NHL playoffs?

I feel if women’s sports were more accessible to watch, more people would watch them. Approximately 85% of total sports media coverage is mens compared to 15% being women’s. People watch what is available, we need to equal what is available to increase the amount of female sports watched.

The unequal coverage women face in sport makes it extremely difficult for them to showcase their talents.
If womens sports were highlighted more in the media I feel that womens sport as a whole could be higher funded with more fans and overall more young girls playing sport. Media is everywhere.

This is an example of criminal violence as the fans and players got into a fight. This situation was then taken to the Oakland County to come up with some kind of charge for this action. This is not a common occurrence, but this still happens in sports today.

Hi Tristyn,
I was wondering what kind of workout you would most likely see yourself doing with a busy schedule. Would you see yourself going to a workout class, or doing them on your own?

I think that this is such an amazing thing for young women to look up to! I feel that showing the younger female generation it’s good to stick up for what you believe in will set up the future for girls in sport in a great way!

I think Jessica Campbell is such an inspiration to aspiring female coaches! She is not only breaking the barrier for the NHL but also proving that women are just as capable in leading everyone. Do you think more male dominant sports will hire female coaches to coach now that the barrier is broken?
