Berkley Earth puts the 2024 land ave. temp at 2.28 degC above the 1850-1900 baseline. So, about 3 yrs from reaching 3 degC, when many experts predict a 50% dieoff of humans, in 2028. Thank God I'm nearly 80! God save the children (from being born now?).

Capitalism is the logical result of the discovery of crops in the "agricultural revolution" as we transitioned from the H-G lifeway to our current sedentary ag. systems, thus generating storable/saleable/tradeable "capital" surpluses. This is brilliantly explained in "Before Writing", Denise SB.

At the current rate of GAST increase, as documented by C3S and Hansen, etal, we may see 5 degC over the 1991-2020 baseline by 2042, total extinction level 6 degC by 2047. Last one out, turn off the lights, if you haven't already succumed to heat exhaustion.

Both the recent Hansen paper, "Global Warming Has Accelerated", 2-3-25, and the C3S, "Hottest May on record spurs call for climate action", have recorded 0.2 deg GAST increases ANNUALLY for 2023-2024, on the same hockey stick curve that Eliot has posted, as have many others. So, 3 degC by 2032.

I posted a lengthy reply on substack.com, however, a couple of points here: our EEI is not just from solar heat retention, but equally due to the 8 B tons of coal we burn annually and the 100 M+ barrels of oil we burn daily. At the current EEI, we reach 3.04 degC by 2032.
Still yawning?

Businesses in the mid to late 19th C began adopting engineering precepts and military organization as they began to 'professionalize'...
For decades businesses aped engineering... even common lexicon adopted the cogs in a wheel analogy.
