When called through and the nurse checks the form, I usually say something along the lines of "don't worry, I've not had unprotected sex with any drug-using sub-saharan cloven hoofed animals...since my last donation"

I've got this lovely image in my head of the dog flying through the air, back to the owner

That's exactly it - they know not to lend if the requested mortgage is above what they'd recover

Mortgage lenders should be delighted in knowing that the house is not worth as much as the buyer and seller have agreed on.

The useful bit of the article - The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) says on its website that “in reality there is no such thing as a ‘down valuation’. What is being described is the difference between worth (to the individual buyer/seller) and market value”.

The public are fed the lie that there is too many managers and admin staff and this is the cause of monetary waste. Thus, the NHS has consistently run on very low numbers of support staff and clinicians waste time doing admin tasks and there is no time for managers to do more than fight fires.

I'm always astonished when people manage to avoid a ban because without the licence they will lose their job etc. Surely if that's the case you'd do everything possible to avoid points, and getting lots demonstrates you really don't care.

My elderly father had one of those early promotional mobile phone deals where it was just £10 for the phone and all calls for life.

It was quite fortunate as he'd definitely not have one of those ones you have to subscribe to.

Oh yes. Nodding and saying "yep" at the end of nearly every sentence. Just wish I'd gained the understanding many, many years ago.

I saw @pierrenovellie.bsky.social talk at a function and was impressed... so sought out the stand-up show (youtu.be/LiM8PwMzENg)... then read the book... then did the tests.... and then went "oh, now that makes sense"

Thankfully it seems it was a ribbon, not paint, and has been removed with no damage to the site.

Having seen boys in Holland wearing their designer-waist-banded underwear under their swimming shorts, the French rule does make sense. As long as you know and take budgie smugglers with you.

It is a supermarket that's somewhat posher than the rest, with some fancier food items and fancier prices.

Whole Foods was similar when it was trading in the uk
