Just trying to simulate a tornado but the ring of turbulence I added turned out to be the one ring of power, and I have captured the direct attention of Sauron himself.

Peach cobbler bochet starting to brew!

This piddly downburst obliterated my pepper plant I've been nursing all summer long, and have been anxiously waiting to try. Some of the peppers probably only had 3 days left to ripen. 🤬

Well that was fun, got great data from Raxpol on two tornadoes near Arnett, OK

Timeline is flooded already, but I'll throw some of my pictures of tornadoes from the monster Matador supercell this evening. Even more importantly Raxpol captured some great tornado data!

One of the largest clear slots I've seen probably

Ahhh good call. Had to go back and find that MPX one. WOW.

Just your average nocturnal January tornado in California with possible snow in the forward flank

Definitely an SVC multiple times that day from both radars, it was a fun day. Most of those RHIs you looked at were through the RFGF. At the very end of the dataset, Ka1 captured a tornado at the very edge of the range.

*chuckles* I'm in danger.

Time to attempt to make a fermented hot sauce

I will be defending my doctoral dissertation this Friday, November 22 at 8 am CST over the environmental factors that can lead to and modulate the streamwise vorticity current (SVC) in a supercell, and how that may impact tornadogenesis. If interested in attending, DM me and I will send a zoom link!

It is November 16th and I'm still getting peppers like crazy in Lubbock

As I wrap up my dissertation I couldn't help but share this cool plot. Vertical acceleration under the tilting SVC go brrrrrrrrrrrrrr
November 8, 2024 at 10:57 PM
And finally, wrapping up the conference Friday morning, if our HPC system comes back online in time, I will be presenting about the direct downstream impacts of the SVC related to low-level mesocyclone strength and TLV-genesis.

On Tuesday my advisor and I have another poster showcasing some of the amazing high-resolution mobile radar data of tornadoes we captured this year during the LIFT field campaign.

For those #31SLS -ers, come stop by my poster on Monday to chat about how different shear profiles influences different supercell properties including internal boundary orientations, SVC magnitude and orientation, and TLVs!

Figured I should reintroduce myself with all the new followers!

I'm Alex!

- Finishing my PhD at TTU focused on supercell dynamics and tornadogenesis through the lens of the SVC.
-Starting a postdoc at OU in January simulating high-res tornadoes with the inclusion of destruction and debris physics

This is meteorology right?

First post on blue sky might as well be pictures of autumn breaking in Denali NP a months go in celebration of the fall equinox.
