I guess you’d call this a Virgin Sunrise, since it has no alcohol. Home grown pomegranate juice and super sweet orange juice from the fruit stand down the road. You couldn’t buy a drink this good in any but the finest most expensive restaurants, I’ll bet

How pomegranates grow. I always pick them at Halloween, because it usually rains right after that and any fruit that are cracked get waterlogged and gross.

I'm planning to visit the Salton Sea "mud volcanoes" because I'm a nerd. But look at this overhead photo! Every one of those squares is owned by a different person/family. Each one is 40-80 acres. Who said small farms are dead!

I live in Zone 9b — Southern California desert. For years I’ve been trying to grow edible ginger like when I lived in zone 8. Here is the secret: grow surrounded by taller plants. Not just shade.. I tried that and partial shade. I think the surrounding plants must create a micro climate.

More progress making the stream more natural. Total drop is 6 feet. The plastic at the bottom is at the waterfall. I want to change the sound and make it lighter and more pleasant.

20 years ago I made compost piles 10’ high that burned hard and fast. Then I moved to the desert. I tried a variety of ways to compost but the piles just dried out and sat there. I finally have a process that works. This pile is 5’ high. You can see it looks like dirt covered with brush.

I’m kind of surprised these things work. But mine has been very popular for a few years now.

GINGER: year 2 !!

I used to have a large patch of edible ginger … which I never appreciated.

Since moving to the desert I have tried for years to grow it

Last year it succeeded …. And this year it’s back!!

Some plants take years to find the exactly right conditions.

How did I not know that Biden got TSMC to invest $12 billion building an AI chip plant in Arizona in 2020, and it’s already making chips! Thank you, President Biden.

My little toothless tripod Winnie has a feral boyfriend. He comes around for food and she LOVES him. I’ve never seen a cat love another cat’s tail so much. She rolls on it. Washes it. Is fascinated by it every day.

I just started raising water fleas as live fish food. And I have to say …. They’re super interesting. Im watching them more than my aquarium.

This movie is a perfect allegory of the 1st Trump admin, and a perfect warning about the 2nd Trump+Elon Admin.

You’ve decided to try being a housecat. But you haven’t learned yet that you can be TOO relaxed on the edge of the couch.
